These are a selection of portraits taken from a calendar I shot for a breast cancer charity published for 2009. The charity, called ORBS supports the pioneering work of the reconstructive breast surgery unit at Nottingham?s city hospital in the UK.
ORBS stands for Oncoplastic Reconstructive Breast Surgery. It?s the application of plastic surgery techniques to the breast. Because of this breast-preserving surgery, many women can have the choice of avoiding a mastectomy and getting a result that looks good and helps them embrace the future with confidence.
The calendar features 13 fabulous women who have had or are going through treatment for their cancer. Each portrait reflects the personality or aspirations of these inspiring women.
